It is our job to educate our children about racial inequality and the structural problems in our country. It is also our job to lead by example. One small step we can take in the right direction is purchasing and supporting Black-owned companies, as well as diversifying our children’s toy collections. Below is a list of some of our favorites!

HarperIman dolls are extremely popular and it’s no surprise why. They are beautifully handcrafted souvenir dolls made from linen. A mother-daughter duo discovered that colored dolls are underrepresented and set out to do something about it. The dolls have different sizes, skin tones and represent many different hair types.

Ashay By The Bay is a great place to read books for the little ones. In fact, it’s # 1 black children’s bookstore. The website is organized by topic and age so you can quickly find what you’re looking for.
