Pizza Casserole was an instant favorite recipe from the first time I cooked it! That’s why I’m sharing this recipe with you today as another part of the Easy Family Favorites range!
This pizza casserole recipe was an instant family favorite! The two year old loves it and so do my husband and me!
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces rigatoni or macaroni pasta (boil & drain)
- 1 pound sausage
- 1 clove of garlic, chopped
- 1 glass of spaghetti sauce (26 oz)
- 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese (about 2 cups)
- 1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese
- 6 ounce pepperoni slices
Fry the meat and garlic in a little oil, drain and transfer the meat mixture to a large mixing bowl. Stir in the sauce, half of the mozzarella, and about 2 ounces of hot peppers. Place the pasta in the bowl and mix until the sauce / cheese mixture evenly covers the pasta. Pour the mixture into a greased 13 by 9 inch pan. Scatter the remaining cheeses on top. Add pepperoni slices generously to the cheese.
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until the cheese bubbles.
One of the really fun things about this recipe is that you can customize it by adding your favorite pizza toppings! You can use olives, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, etc. Just add your “extras” when you cook the meat and you have your own pizza casserole!
This recipe freezes well too. Prepare to the point before putting it in the oven. Then freeze it until you’re ready to cook at a later time! I always use disposable pans for freezing. Definitely not glass!
