Over [30 Amazing] Kindergarten Homeschool Curriculum Choices

Just like everything else in life, now that we’ve finished our kindergarten curriculum, I find all sorts of bright things that I wish we’d tried. Every year there are new offers for the kindergarten. I’ve seen everything from complete online programs to customized math and reading curriculum for kindergarten and I’m excited to show you everything.

Our years of choosing a kindergarten homeschool curriculum are over and I can’t tell you how much I miss them! Forts in the living room, stuffed animals, listening to stories, and kids on my laps studying filled the days I’d like to rewind. Of course, I’ve completely forgotten about tantrums and days when a child was up at 5 a.m.

However, I made up my mind to put on my rose-tinted glasses while thinking back to the days when kindergarten planning lay ahead of me and showing you a ton of options for your kindergarten plans.

Kindergarten homeschool curriculum that covers all subjects

When we first started homeschooling, I was relieved to find websites with full curriculum options. I was brand new to this homeschooling thing and just wanted someone to tell me what to do and how to do it. It was great to find kindergarten math and reading curriculum that included science, history, and anything else my little learners might be interested in. It gave me time to figure out how to teach my children and how best to learn.

It’s also nice to stick with one company for all of your kindergarten curriculum needs because you don’t have to deal with a learning curve once you become comfortable with the teaching methodologies of the chosen curriculum. Once you are comfortable with homeschooling, you can choose what works best for you. However, if you’re just starting out, these one-stop kindergarten curriculum options are ideal.

Kindergarten curriculum: reading

If I could go back in time, I would definitely have chosen a self-directed, gentle reading curriculum when I was a child. My children all learned to read in their own time, and aggressive reading classes in kindergarten were simply not necessary. Our favorite moments in those early years were snuggling up on the couch with a book we all love. If I could read Charlotte’s web over and over again just to see her fall in love with the story all over again, I would do it right away!

Whether you’re looking for a formal reading program or something more relaxed that focuses on cultivating a love of books, I promise you will find what you’re looking for in the list below.

Kindergarten Curriculum: Math

Choosing a math curriculum for kindergarten is almost the same for me as I do with reading. Kindergarten is such an important time to instill a love of learning in your children. While schools create longer days and stricter standards for kindergarten, homeschooling gives you the opportunity to take it slow and follow your child’s example.

There are so many new opportunities in math and kindergarten is a great year finding out how best to learn and maintain your child’s math skills.

Kindergarten Homeschool curriculum: extras

There are a million and one option to add to your basic kindergarten curriculum. Kindergarten is a year where you can study science and history formally or just let it go and develop more interest in the subjects. It’s also a year of exploring foreign languages, language, art, handwriting, theater – whatever your little one’s heart desires. Here are a few options to get you started. Most of all, I encourage you to follow your child’s example and help them love what they have learned.

I wish I had spent more time in our early years figuring out what my kids loved. I was so concerned about covering everything we needed to cover in their curriculum. In retrospect, there was nothing to worry about. We have had many years to learn what they need to learn in their own time.

As you plan your kindergarten curriculum for the next year, click through these options and consider what type of homeschooling environment you want to create. Look for what fits your family, rather than the amount of facts that it will teach your children. Kindergarten is a great time to soak up your kids and enjoy their early years as a teacher. Spend time learning together, but spend so much time and more exploring the great outdoors, visiting the library, and enjoying the little learners still on your lap!
