You know the days when you feel like you need to do a quick reset but aren’t sure where to start? I have a system for that! I’ve divided the tasks most households need for a small reset into 3 categories: The Basics, The Ambience, and The Cleaning Extras. I find that using a checklist not only guides me, it keeps me going.
Here is the system I follow:
I’ll start with the basics. These are the main areas in the house and are most noticeable when someone stops by or I missed something. If that’s all I can achieve, that’s fine! When I have more time or feel like going on, I go beyond the essentials.

THE BASICS
These tasks are a great starting point (or endpoint). Work in this order for maximum efficiency.
- Pick up receipt
- Do a quick clearing out on the main level
- Vacuum / sweep up noticeable dirt
- wipe kitchen counters & table
- Put dirty dishes in the dishwasher or sink
- Lay out clean kitchen towels
- Wiping the bathroom sink
- clean toilets
- Lay out clean towels
CLEANING EXTRAS
Additional tasks that will make resetting times faster, use these to start your extras and add others to the blank spots on the checklist.
- wipe the mirror
- Fluff up pillows and arrange throws
- Wipe the front of the device
- quick dust
AMBIENCE
If you are going to use this checklist before the company comes over or just want to create a cozy atmosphere, check these things off the list.
- light a candle or start a diffuser
- Switch on the table lighting
- Turn on the music
- Set thermostat adjust
I put this 30 minute quick clean on a checklist form if you’d like to join in. Check out the updated free printable library!
