The celebrations for St. Patrick’s Day in our house always include the tradition “I am happy because”
It started over 16 years ago when I took some green construction papers and started cutting out large shaped shamrocks. I would then write to them by hand: “I am happy because ……”. Then each family member would fill out one for each family member. Share why they were lucky enough to have this person (family member) in their life.
We then read them during our feast on St. Patrick’s Day.
Just watching each person’s faces light up as these words of life were read to them somehow made it worth having the shamrocks cut out.
Fast forward 16 years. I have now created my own “I’m Happy Because …” cards (printouts) that give you the same opportunity to experience this tradition in your home. Free. There are four styles to choose from that you can use in different ways
– Place them on your children’s doors. One every day before St. Patrick’s Day or the week of.
– Put lunch in your children.
– Use during your St. Patircks daily meal
– Place your kids’ bathroom mirrors
This is just another way to tell your children’s lives about what they were created for.
