If you have a garbage disposal or kitchen drain, you know it can get a little smelly from time to time. I have an easy DIY solution with two ingredients that you can easily mix together today. If you want to add this to your routine, use this weekly or whenever your trash disposal gets a little smelly. The picture shows my new Premium Bar Mop Towel in Aqua, which is also available here in white, and the mason jar in my shop.
Lemon Garbage Disposal Cleaner
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup lemon juice (fresh or in a glass)
Mix the baking powder and lemon juice to a pasty liquid.
The liquid starts bubbling – I think it’s best to bring the solution to the sink in case it bubbling a little more than expected.
Slowly pour the solution down the drain. Let rest for at least 5 minutes.
Run cold water and turn on the disposal and let it run for about 30 seconds.
I also use this garbage disposal brush to scrub the inside of the garbage disposal. This works very well after the cleaning method described above.
Give the inside of your garbage disposal a little scrub, rinse it off with hot water, and enjoy clean garbage disposal.
