Creating your own balloon arch takes some work and time, but the results are so much fun! Here are some tips on how to make a Dollar Tree Balloon Arch for under $ 15!

Who doesn’t love a good balloon arch DIY? I know i do! We recently did this with all of the Dollar Tree materials for my son’s 9th birthday – read on to find out how!

How to make a balloon arch

I remember the first time I saw an arch of a balloon. It was a dinner and dance that was held in church for the youth when I was a little kid – I think my mother must have been in charge.

We were walking in the church gym and I was amazed at the amazing balloon arch that seemed to span a large part of the gym. I was so fascinated by it at that moment!

Since then, I’ve obviously seen a lot more balloon arches – although I don’t think I haven’t seen such large ones. They are popular for baby showers, weddings, and just about any occasion you can think of.

I thought it would be fun to make one with just Dollar Tree materials.

Tips and Tricks

Use a balloon pump

Not only does this save you a lot of time (and breath), but we also believe the Dollar Tree balloons were a little sketchy and were not made from the best materials. I would definitely avoid putting too many of them in my mouth.

Blow up the balloons as you go

Choose a color theme

As you can see we had a lot of random colors in our balloon arch. It was fun, but I’d suggest focusing on just a few colors and buying balloons in those color schemes.

How much does it cost to make a balloon arch?

This is always one of the most important questions asked about balloon arches – how much do they cost?

The price can range from dollars to hundreds of dollars (although the hundreds are likely if you hire someone who can do it – or if you make one who is huge!)

That Dollar Tree balloon arch was only about $ 15 – we bought six packets of balloons, five pool noodles, a packet of balloon stakes, a balloon pump, and a packet of twisty ties

Is the Dollar Tree Balloon Pump any good?

Did i use better? Absolutely. Did it do the job? It was safe – and it was only $ 1. Great when you are in an emergency and it will save your breath!

What did you use to tie the balloons together?

I bought these flexible zip ties with a dispenser. I really liked these because I could cut them off for as long as I needed and they were easy to route through the tied end of the balloon. I bought it on a whim, but it was a really good idea! Florist wire would work too.

How do you get the bow to stand up?

This definitely won’t stand alone. We were in our house and pretty cautious about the way it looked, so we just had a couple of lamps that we tied it to – and we used some duct tape as well.

If this is not your situation, you can use some command hooks on the wall and tie them with string, or even secure them to the ceiling with clear string or fish wire (if it’s light enough).

What about the Dollar Tree Balloon Arch Tape?

Wish my shop had this in stock – it’s currently being reordered on the Dollar Tree website! That would have made it even easier. It’s 196 “long and you can clip any balloons you want on it. Finding this in the store will make this project even easier!

Materials:

Manual:

  1. Secure your pool noodles together with balloon stakes and tape. We put a couple of balloon stakes in the center of each noodle and then taped them to the openings of the noodle.
  2. See the tips section for this post for advice on how to hang it on the wall or ceiling so the arch stands on its own.
  3. Make sure it fits in the area you want and adjust it as needed.
  4. Blow up your balloons – I recommend doing this only five at a time.
  5. Secure your balloons with twist straps or floral wire. Make sure it is long enough to line up on all of the balloons and that it can be tied around the pool noodle. I put the zip ties through the tied end of the balloons and was able to string them together that way. If you can find a balloon arch strip, this can be used in place of the coiled ties.
  6. Place the balloons on your balloon arch, start at the bottom and go up.
  7. Continue this process until your balloon arch is ready!
