DIY Laundry Freshening Spray – Clean Mama

June 30, 2021

When you need to freshen up an item of clothing, blanket or pillow, this DIY laundry freshener spray quickly replaces your previous textile spray and becomes a new favorite. The essential oils add a subtle scent and the vodka helps kill bacteria that caused the smell.

The chemicals and artificial scent in traditional fabric sprays are toxic and once you see how easy and inexpensive this spray is to mix, you’ll be able to make your own fabric spray too.

Here are the ingredients you will need:

  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup vodka (or rubbing alcohol)
  • 5 drops of essential oil (I love the Calm Home mix for clothes – it’s lavender and eucalyptus)
  • spray bottle

Place the ingredients in a spray bottle and shake to combine. (I recommend using glass spray bottles),

When I have a shirt or item of clothing that needs a bit of freshening up – maybe when it’s not quite ready to be washed but needs a little more. I hang a couple of shirts in the laundry room, rinse them off and let them dry.

Choose one of my new essential oil blends to make cleaning up a little more enjoyable! You can see all of my DIY cleaning recipes on the website here.
