It’s super easy Conversation heart garland will be such a fun addition to yours Valentine’s Day decorations. With just a handful of supplies and your Cricut, you will have this garland made in no time!
When I saw these heart shaped wood cutouts on my local dollar tree, I knew exactly what I wanted to do!
It’s so hard to think of Valentine’s Day without thinking of Conversation Hearts. All the colors and sayings are just so cute and make even cuter Valentine’s Day decorations.
What sayings should I put on my heart?
You can always search a list online for ideas or even write your own. However, here are the phrases I used for my garland:
- “Call me”
- “I love you”
- “Sweet Face”
- “BFF”
- “Be mine”
- “XOXO”
- “Hug me”
- “You are sweet”
Which font should I use?
I used Helvetica Neue in all of the caps to mimic the iconic look of real conversation hearts. My font size was 65, but depending on the size of the hearts you find, you’ll need to resize your design.
It is also very important to change the line spacing, otherwise there will be large gaps between your two lines of text. I used -3.1 line spacing, but you can decide what you like best.
Should I use self-adhesive vinyl or HTV?
Personally, I love using HTV for such wood projects. When applied, the HTV looks matt instead of glossy like self-adhesive vinyl – it looks more like paint. Since conversation hearts generally look chalky, I highly recommend using HTV.
If you don’t have one on hand or want a cheaper option, I promise self-adhesive vinyl will still look just as cute! I suggest applying a glossy polyurethane or high gloss mod podge so that the gloss of the hearts matches the gloss of the self adhesive vinyl.
