You have a huge choice when it comes to the best jogging stroller, probably too many. Couldn’t someone just make a perfect multi-purpose stroller? No, but we all wish they made it a little easier for us. In this edition of How The Hell Do I Choose My Stroller, we take a look at the best jogging strollers.
I admit that jogging strollers are really my favorites (in fact, I’ve used one as my main stroller for many years). They also encourage you to exercise, or at least feel better because you have the equipment in case your child ever stops you exhausting you. They are also easy to maneuver in any terrain, making them suitable for a wide variety of situations. Basically, I would like to point out that it is worthwhile to have a jogging stroller with you.
We know how frustrating it can be to walk through the aisles and ponder the pros and cons of each stroller. Stay with us and read on to find out what to look for in the best jogging stroller.
Best jogging stroller for running & everyday life!
Why a jogger
The first thing you need to consider is whether a jogger is the right choice for your family at all. You want to choose a stroller that you can use to the maximum. Jogger strollers have three large wheels as opposed to the normal four wheels. This means that whether you are running or walking, the jogger is a smooth ride on any surface. One of the things I love about joggers is how easily they roll whether you’re walking or jogging.
The essentials
This list might seem a little familiar to you if you’ve read our article on the double jogging stroller. That’s because joggers in one or two seats have pretty much the same requirements. Everything below is something to consider when choosing your new stroller.
The size is important
When buying, pay attention to the weight and width of the strollers, as these will greatly affect you when pushing them. One of the best things about jogging strollers is how narrow they can be so they can squeeze through all the aisles and doors. Be careful not to lose this function!
Fixed wheel
If you’re an avid runner (or planning to become one, yay!) You’ll want a solid front wheel to keep you on track. For the rest of us, there are plenty of options for a crossover front wheel that can be swiveled to make maneuvering easier when you’re not walking. You may want to test both by walking around with them and making lots of turns. You walk differently so just do what feels best for you.
Buying used / buying with the intention of selling
Let’s face it, good jogging strollers tend to be expensive. We’re not saying you need to spend $ 800, but sometimes it pays to invest between $ 200 and $ 500. Buying a used stroller can totally cut your costs and with little tricks like replacing the wheels and removing the seats that need to be washed it will be as good as new. If you’re just looking for a shiny new double jogging stroller, give it a try and remember that you can resell it when your kids have outgrown it.
Wrap up
Where should the jogging stroller be stowed at home and what does your trunk look like for transport? These are really important things to keep in mind because if your stroller is impossible to get in and out of, chances are you’ll never use it. When jogging strollers first came out, they were large and not very compact when you folded them up. Well, things have certainly changed as some fold up quite nicely
equipment
Whether you just use this stroller for walking or make it your daily stroller, the accessories will matter. Think of cup holders, storage and umbrellas for you and the child
The little details can be major
Don’t forget the little details of your stroller. If it has adjustable handlebars, you would prefer a footbrake or a handbrake. Has a storage basket underneath and a child or parent tray. You should consider these little things before buying your new stroller.
Ask your doctor
How old does your baby have to be to go running with you? It is a very controversial topic with recommendations for your baby between 4 and 9 months. I think it’s best to ask your pediatrician as they know your baby best and can recommend the right age.
The best of the best
Once you’ve decided which essentials for the best jogging stroller are most important to you, this is your next stop. We’ve rounded up some of the best jogging strollers here, so by the time you make it to the store you may have made up your mind.
Thule Urban Glide 2 – My current obsession!
This is the newest addition to our list and my personal favorite. It’s so slim that I like to take it with me everywhere. It’s light enough to be pushed and maneuvered with one hand. The rear wheels are 16 inches, so the stroller glides easily. Plus, it’s super easy to fold (you can do it with one hand), then pack it up and toss it in the back of your car. This model is also available as a double jogger.
Here are some of the other amazing features:
- One-handed, compact folding for easy storage and transport.
- Integrated twist handbrake provides speed control on hilly terrain.
- Reclining seat when your little one needs a nap. But not only that, the seats are very easy to clean, so your stroller will look like new for a while.
- Safe and comfortable seat with padded five-point belt
- Canopy with UPF 50+.
- Peekaboo window with magnetic closure. I actually love this feature so much because the Velcro versions always wear out after a short time.

Baby Trend Expedition Jogging Pants
While this might not be the best choice for marathon runners, most of us moms aren’t. It’s an excellent choice for almost everything else. The front wheel is pivotable so it’s really easy to maneuver. It weighs 26 lbs, so it’s pretty easy to lift and store when folded. For everyday use there is a tray for mom and another for the baby. There is plenty of storage space under the seat and a decent parasol. The seat can also be reclined so you can say hello to the nap.

Graco FastAction sweatpants
Folding and unfolding is by far one of the most frustrating things about strollers. Graco designed this stroller with that in mind and kept things a little simpler. Note, however, that at 30 lbs, this stroller is slightly heavier than most of the others. It compensates for this by being able to stand upright on its own. Some other beneficial features of the Graco FastAction are the large storage container and the ability to click in a baby seat!
