Magnetic cabinet locks
Magnetic cabinet locks are the best. These are ideal because they are so easily accessible.
Just install the lock on the back of the cabinet. Then hold the magnetic “key” up to the lock to unlock. These work not only for cupboards, but also for drawers.
Make sure you have your key close by (many have chosen to put them in their fridge or on a nearby magnetic board). Even so, it allows quick access when you need it and no access when your baby is around. A pack of 20 is available from Amazon along with other brands.
What we like:
- You can set the lock so that it does not stay open for a long time
- Budget friendly
- Much easier to use than traditional cabinet locks
- They work really well!
What we don’t like:
- You need to keep an eye on the magnet
- It can be a little annoying having to use the magnetic lock over and over again
UrbanAugust refrigerator and cabinet lock
This first one is difficult! This Max Lock from UrbanAugust is super robust and reliable. It’s affordable too! It comes with a three digit combination to ensure your kids are safe from fridges with French doors or dangerous cupboards.
Use this for cabinets that hold cleaning chemicals or heavy dishes. The best part is the installation. There’s no drilling or gluing. Plus, this has been tested on hundreds of fridges to make sure it fits yours! This is just under $ 14. You can buy them from their website or from Amazon.
What we like:
- Very effective
- Inexpensive
- No tools required
- Compatible with many different fridges with French doors
What we don’t like:
- You have to remember a code
- It’s quite big and not particularly aesthetic
Clear museum gel
This is such a cool product! This is an adhesive that holds decorations firmly and securely. Put it on the bottom of vases, plants or decorations. Due to its clear coloring, it blends in perfectly. It prevents objects from being knocked over. Plus, it can be removed and reused! Buy this on Amazon for just under $ 12.
What we like:
- Easy to use
- Does not stain furniture
- Makes babies break easier!
What we don’t like:
- Might work TOO well – some people are complaining that they are having trouble getting the items back up!
PRObebi Outlet Covers
Socket covers are one of the most basic protective tools for babies. However, they are easy to pull out, rendering them ineffective. These outlet covers require an additional pull down and pull out step to remove. They’re also super cheap and go perfectly with the outlets! Amazon offers a 38 pack.
What we like:
- Very child safe
- Inexpensive
- The ring handle design that makes it easy to remove (for adults)
- Made from high quality materials
What we don’t like:
- Some complain that they are TOO hard to remove and break when they finally get them out.
Remove cooker covers
This is another need! Ovens can be very dangerous, so covering the oven is a good idea. I love these because they are clear and fit in better. These work on a hinge. Simply loosen the cap to turn the oven on or off. They keep your kids away but are easily accessible for you when you need it.
What we like:
- Easy to turn to use knobs
- Sure – more aesthetically pleasing
What we don’t like:
- Some complain that the covers are too small, others complain that they are too big!
- Complaints about incorrect sticking
Transparent corner protection
Corner protection is a must. Even as an adult, I still struggle with the edges of furniture! These clear protectors are stylish and effective. If you need to remove these and relocate them, remove them without damaging your furniture.
These gel-like protectors provide excellent protection for your baby (or you) from the sharp corners of furniture. If for any reason you are not satisfied, CalMyotis offers a full refund for the first few months! Check it out on Amazon. Only $ 10 for a 12 count.

- Work well with different designs
- Work well
- No damage
What we don’t like:
- Some think they are not soft enough
U-shaped security locks
This is another way to keep the kids out of the closets. This U-shaped lock is a proven lock. These are made of plastic and tie your cabinets together. You unlock simply by pressing the lock to gain access. These are super easy to install. The downside is that they’re not super pretty. They’re more obvious than magnetic locks, but also easier to install. They cost between $ 7 and $ 9 for a pack of 4.
What we like:
- Inexpensive
- Very easy to install
What we don’t like:
- Not so good looking
- Maybe a little short
Anti-tip furniture belts
Furniture belts are essential for families with children. There are far too many accidents in which an infant or young child is crushed under a television, dresser, changing table, etc.
There are many different options and we are not limited to any particular brand. However, this brand has great reviews and is very easy to install.
What we like:
What we don’t like:
- Leaves holes in the wall

Retractable baby gate
Baby goals are a must! Whether you want to keep your baby away from stairs or a specific room in the house, these are well worth the investment.
Of course, baby gates can make it quite inconvenient to get around your own house. Because of this, this retractable baby gate is a perfect solution. Its large mesh material keeps dogs, cats or toddlers up to 40 pounds away.
There are a number of brands out there, although not all of them have great reviews. This is the one we found with the best reviews.
What we like:
- Just withdraw
- Don’t yell baby gate
- You don’t have to jump over it!
What we don’t like:
- A lot of the brands don’t have great reviews
- A little trickier on some stairs
Toilet security lock
This is a less obvious but important baby-proof device. The bathroom cabinets aren’t the only thing that can be locked. This toilet security lock is made with 3M adhesive, which makes it easy and smooth to install. To unlock and use the toilet, just press and turn the button. Locking is even easier. This is on Amazon for under $ 9.
What we like:
- No tools required
- One-handed operation
- 90 day money back guarantee
What we don’t like:
- Pretty bulky
- Although it is easy to use, guests may feel confused
Door knob safety covers
Baby-proof door handles are one of the most basic ways to keep your kids where they need to be. These plastic covers require pressure and rotation to gain access. Basically, they are very difficult for children to use, which makes them perfect. You snap your doorknob and bam! It’s that simple. The 4-pack on Amazon is available for $ 10.
What we like:
- Very effective
- Inexpensive
- No tools required
What we don’t like:
- In theory, these should be easy to use. However, in our experience, doorknob covers are difficult to use for some people! This brand seems better than some.
- Not very attractive
