It has always been important to me to raise an independent and self-confident child, which is why I love the Montessori method. If you are like me, remember that these methods don’t have to stay in the classroom. You can also easily bring them into your home, and one way to do this is to bring Montessori books that further these concepts!
What is Montessori?
The important things first! The Montessori Method is an educational program by Dr. Maria Montessori. The core mission of the program is to develop students who are capable, responsible, and knowledgeable people with a strong sense of self that they need to be successful in the real world. The main difference with Montessori is that teaching is student-led and self-determined, but is led and assessed by the teachers. The Montessori Method believes that growth and key formation begin from birth through the age of 6 and it is a critical time to lay a strong foundation for a child’s future. And the methods don’t just apply to school! You can bring the Montessori method into your home with toys and books that encourage these concepts.

This book has a unique rhythm that children like to read along with, but also teach animals and colors. Children of all ages will love the beautiful illustrations.
123 Count with me
This unique, innovative trace-and-flip book will help kids discover the numbers 1 through 20 and learn to count! Toddlers can track any number by following the tracks with their fingers to familiarize themselves with its shape. There is also a colorful flap on the side that contains one of the featured objects to aid counting. We love it because it’s interactive and fun!
The nap house
We love this book because it teaches actions with images like a “snoring grandma” and a “dreaming child”. It’s a fun, repetitive style book that features realistic drawings.
Opposite surprise
This lift-the-flap is one of my youngest favorites. Each page of this blackboard book reveals a surprising opposite that provides toddlers with a truly original way to learn words and concepts.
Many feelings
This is a must do when you have a toddler who hasn’t fully understood how to tell you how they’re feeling. The book teaches children to read emotions while understanding their own at the same time. Sometimes little people have big feelings, and this book teaches them how to express them.
Dear zoo
This lift-the-flap book is a fan favorite in our house. A child writes to the zoo about wanting a pet and they send him all sorts of animals. It’s fun to discover each one and the reason they give back each “pet”.
Tom and Pippo are going for a walk
This adorable book is ideal for first-time readers. A simple story about a boy and his stuffed monkey going for a walk and getting into some muddy fun.
The world is waiting for you
A great book for learning more about our world and the natural wonders it offers. Children will love photography. This book encourages children to be adventurous and explore the world.

Montessori: A Modern Approach
If you are just starting out or have questions about the Montessori Method, this is the book for you!
